Why isn't my website showing up on Google?
“My site isn’t on Google” usually has one of a handful of causes, and most you can check yourself in a few minutes. Here they are, from most to least common.
If your website does not appear when you search for your business, do not panic and do not buy anything yet. There is a short list of likely causes, and you can rule most of them out in a few minutes. Work through them in order.
First, check whether Google has it at all
Search site:yourdomain.com (your actual domain) on Google. If pages come up, Google has indexed you and the problem is ranking, not indexing — skip to the last section. If nothing comes up, Google does not have your site yet, and one of the next points is why.
1. The site is simply too new
If you launched days or weeks ago, this is almost certainly it. Google has to discover, crawl and trust a new site, and that takes time — often days, sometimes a few weeks. You speed it up by submitting a sitemap in Google Search Console and requesting indexing, but you cannot skip the wait entirely.
2. The site is accidentally blocking Google
This is the one that quietly wastes months. A site can tell Google not to index it — usually a leftover “noindex” setting or a robots.txt rule from when the site was being built. The site works perfectly for visitors; it is just invisible to search. If your site was recently built or rebuilt, this is worth checking first.
3. There is no sitemap, and nothing points to the site
Google finds pages by following links and by reading a sitemap. A brand-new site with no sitemap submitted and no other site linking to it can take a long time to be found. A sitemap in Search Console and a link or two from somewhere real (a directory, a parent company, a social profile) both help.
4. The site is not actually about what people search
If you are indexed but never appear, often the pages do not use the words customers search. A site that says “we deliver bespoke solutions” will not rank for “CA coaching in Pune” because it never says that. The fix is content that plainly names what you do and where — not keyword stuffing, just clear language.
5. Everyone else is doing more
For competitive terms, being present is not enough — ranking is relative. If the institutes above you have more pages, more content and more sites linking to them, matching them is ongoing work, not a one-time fix. That is a real project, and it is the honest reason page-one rankings are not instant.
